Description and install (You must absolutely read this before using it !)

Spiderzilla is an easy to use website downloading utility. It uses an external Open Source program HTTrack Website Copier (embedded in the Windows version - so you don't need to install it separately).

It allows you to download a complete website from the Internet to a local directory, building recursively all structures, getting html, images, and other files from the server to your computer. Links are rebuilt relatively so that you can freely browse on your local machine (works with any browser).

You can mirror several sites together so that you can jump from one to another. You can also update an existing mirror site, or resume an interrupted download.

For Linux/GNU versions, a sh script included in the extension will automatically execute the HTTrack present on your linux.
Danger ! So HTTrack (v3.33 or later) and xterm packages must be installed (depends on your distribution : RPM-deb etc.). The sh script skrypt.sh has to be executable ! -> $ chmod +x skrypt.sh
(~/.mozilla/firefox/profiles/xxxxxxxx.default/extensions/{3cd27e92-1a30-11da-94c6-00e08161165f}/httrack/skrypt.sh)

Note that there's a KDE version of HTTrack called khttrack.

Danger ! We want to remind you that the use of extensions is under your own responsabilities and, for this one more than others, we expressly decline any responsability.

Known bugs

  • SpiderZilla doesn't save options between every session of Firefox/Mozilla Suite.
  • There is a bug with "Noia eXtreme" theme: the "OK" button at the bottom of the page is not visible. Solved.

Additional Information

The previous Spiderzilla (ver. 1.06 by Lenrock) is not compatible with the new extensions manager since Firefox 0.7+. It's not reffered into. Moreover it installs itself in the application path instead of the profile path. So before updating to the new version, you must uninstall it.

In order to do that you must:

  1. delete the directory:
    • Windows :
        Firefox : C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\chrome\spiderzilla
        Mozilla : C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla\chrome\spiderzilla
    • Linux :
        Firefox : /usr/local/firefox/chrome/spiderzilla
    •   Mozilla : /usr/local/mozilla/chrome/spiderzilla

  2. delete the line :
    <RDF:li>chrome://spiderzilla/content/spiderzillaOverlay.xul</RDF:li>
    included in files :
    • Windows :
        Firefox :
      C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\chrome\overlayinfo\browser\content\overlays.rdf
      C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\chrome\overlayinfo\communicator\content\Overlays.rdf
        Mozilla :
      C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla\chrome\overlayinfo\browser\content\overlays.rdf
      C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla\chrome\overlayinfo\communicator\content\overlays.rdf
    • Linux :
        Firefox :
      /usr/local/firefox/chrome/overlayinfo/browser/content/overlays.rdf
      /usr/local/firefox/chrome/overlayinfo/communicator/content/overlays.rdf
        Mozilla :
      /usr/local/mozilla/chrome/overlayinfo/browser/content/overlays.rdf
      /usr/local/mozilla/chrome/overlayinfo/communicator/content/overlays.rdf

  3. (NB: The file chrome.rdf should be cleaned too but it's too complicated and doesn't block the new version).

  4. Restart Firefox ou Mozilla.

Old versions

As mentioned above, here are the links for the original version of SpiderZilla.
Danger ! Users of Firefox, it's not a good idea to install this one because you can't uninstall it (see also instructions above) because it doesn't appear in the extension manager.
