Description

Adblock Plus is a K-Meleon extension filtring the web page content. It can really block ALL that you can find in an Html page : images (gif, jpeg, backgroung images, …), flash animations, frames, scripts, …

Here is a non exhaustive list of the features :

• block items of a page using their URL, a part ot their URL ou regular expressions ;
• creation of a white list (websites list where Adblock Plus will be disabled) allowing adaptative filtring ;
• distant filters list subscription (when running Adblock Plus for the first time a box purposing subscription to a few list is opened) ;
• filters list display ;
• enabling/disabling filters independantly.

Filter Lists

Adblock Plus allows you to subscribe to filters list which will be updated when advertising will be updated. It's not necessary to subscribe to a list to block advertising, but it allows you not to have to create manually a lot of the filters you will have to use, and then not to loose time. However, these filters can be unadapted to your browsing habits. Of course, to correct it, it's possible to add or remove manually filters. So, it's highly recommanded to use a list which is specific to your region

When starting Adblock Plus for the first time, a box will be displayed allowing you to subscribe to a filter list.

You will have also the possibility to subscribe to a list, or to modify subscription. You just have to visit official declared subscriptions webpage, to choose a list and to click on "Subscribe" in the column on the right.

Filterset.G Updater

Another filter list exists : Filterset.G Updater. It's an apart extensionl which hasn't been adapted to K-Meleon. Its use isn't advisable because :

• the list isn't adapted to Adblock Plus and can slow browsing. Additionnaly, it is a very complete list which often block non advertising objects ;
• this list duplicate an Adblock Plus existing feature, which slows more browsing.

Element Hiding Helper

It's another Adblock Plus companion extension, which has been created also by Wladimir Palant and allows to facilitate hiding elements which can't been blocked. Have a look to the extension webpage for more informations.

Warning : this extension hasn't yet been updated to K-Meleon, and elsewhere not been tested with K-Meleon.
